From supplying and installing adaptive equipment to cleaning out a cluttered home, our Home Safety & Falls Prevention team helps create an orderly space that promotes safety, maximizes independence, and physical well-being.
We know that little changes in furniture arrangement, lighting, and the use of space can make a big difference. Our team is available to move a bedroom downstairs if stairs are too difficult to navigate or add lighting to create a clear path from a bedroom to the bathroom.
Our Home Safety & Falls Prevention team starts each new client assessment with a safety-focused walkthrough of your home environment. It’s an important first step in our BetterCare at Home™ approach to delivering a higher standard of care to your family.
Our Safety & Falls Prevention Team helps with:
Home Safety Assessment
We start all client engagements with a home safety walk-through and assessment.
Structural modifications to rooms, doorways, stairs, lighting and more to enhance accessibility and make the space safer, including full renovations.
Installation of adaptive equipment and smart reorganization of rooms to aid in at-home independence.
Thorough deep cleaning from attic to basement and everywhere in between, including bed bug abatement and prevention.
Minor carpentry and repairs, painting, floor installations, and seasonal installation or removal of air conditioners, fans and space heaters.
Home transitions services available
After a stay in the hospital or a rehab facility, it’s important to consider changes to the environment mom or dad may need once they’re back at home recovering. Our Home Safety and Falls Prevention team provides services that make these types of transitions easier for your family.

Answers to your Home Safety & Falls Prevention questions
How do we make your home a safer place?
Our Case Managers perform a home safety inspection when they do their initial visit. If needed, they can make a referral to our Home Safety team. This specialized team can perform a home safety inspection and determine what needs to be done to promote safety, reduce falls, maximize independence and make life easier. We have full-time handymen and cleaners on staff who can make a range of changes to your home if needed, from installing bathroom grab bars to moving a bedroom downstairs so home life is set up safely on one floor.
Are falls an inevitable consequence of aging?
Falling is not an inevitable consequence of aging. Most age-related falls are preventable once you know how they happen and take steps to minimize the risk. Our Home Safety & Falls Prevention team helps remove these obstacles in your home to keep our clients safe. Falling once doubles a senior’s chance of falling again, and the average fall for a senior costs $30,000. Many falls can be avoided.
Who do you use to install equipment?
We have an experienced team who can perform a home safety inspection and determine what needs to be done to promote safety, reduce falls, maximize independence and make life easier. We employ 20 full-time handymen, who are overseen by an experienced manager.
If I make changes to my parent's home, would my parent(s) be more comfortable?
An unsafe home is a significant barrier to aging in place, and is one of the primary reasons aging adults move. When a client’s home is changed to promote safety and independence, they can do important things like get downstairs to sit with family for dinner, get out of the house and do errands, or get their own meal (versus having someone get for them).
